S.M.A.R.T. Goals

Tomorrow is August 1st.

The first day of classes for the Fall 2018 semester will be here before you know it.

It’s time to start thinking about and setting your goals for the semester.  You should try your best to ensure they are S.M.A.R.T.

S = SPECIFIC

M = MEASURABLE

A = ACTIONABLE

R = RELEVANT (REASONABLE)

T = TIMEBOUND (TIMELY)

Take time over the next several days and weeks to determine what your goals are for the semester.  If the semester is too long, shorten that time period.  Many people use 90 days as a common time period (TIMEBOUND).

What do you want to accomplish this semester?

…do you want to become more knowledgeable about another programming language?

…do you want to increase your GPA?

…do you want to study more hours each day/week?

…do you want to master a number of mathematic theories/equations?

…do you want to complete a software (or hardware) development project?

These are questions you can ask yourself to help brainstorm.  But once you’ve figured out your goal(s), make sure it is S.M.A.R.T.

…and then make that a part of your mission.  A by any means necessary mission!

…and then use it to make your Block Schedule – which will be discussed in a sequential post in the next few weeks!

For now, enjoy the process of determining who you want to become and what you want to do.

….After all, you cannot perform any better than what you see in your mind!

Choose Your Habits Carefully
